Whew...

Survived a crazy week at work!  Now to survive my weekend :D

1. Members TGIF crop over at scrapfreak NOW.  Fun challenges and prizes.  Come play! 

2. The new Scrapfreak embellishment kit reveals tonight (8pm EST)!  See some sneaks from my projects below.  I just love this kit!  This one was very cheerful, colorful, and perfect for summer fun!

3. I have a birthday crop for my friend Amanda tomorrow!  So looking forward to it :)  I am making two casseroles tonight to take tomorrow!  Tuna noodle and Shepherd's Pie.

4. Then I have a crop at my LSS on Sunday!

Thank goodness I am taking Monday off :)

   

Prompt 28: Food

This will be the final Get Meaningful prompt!  Its been a fun year and I hope those of you that played along enjoyed it!  In 2010 I will be doing a new project, so stay tuned :)

This last prompt ends on a fun note - food!  The holiday season is filled with food that I associate with my childhood, like my mom's rice dressing and praline pumpkin pie!  And every year my friends Laura & Kathi anxiously await for the return of the Pumpkin Spice lattes at Starbucks.  This prompt is about documenting something around food!

Prompt 27: Looking Back

Sometimes I think we are too close to our lives to see things for what they are.  As we are living in the moment, we may not see all sides of something.  But later, looking back, we can often process an event in a new way.  This can be a disappointment that turned into a blessing later.  It might be how we viewed our parents or other people in our lives.  Or something that seemed like a good idea the time but turned out to be a struggle.  Whatever it is, this week is about documenting the reality of something versus how we saw it at the time.

Prompt 26: Family Time

One of the things I love about the fall is that it starts off the holiday season... a season full of spending time with my friends and family, eating home cooked meals, watching favorite movies.  We all have "family" time in one form or another, even if our family is our friends or boyfriend.  Document what is special to you about family time - the things you like to do, what you enjoy most.  This can be a reflection on when you were a child or about what you enjoy now as a adult... or a comparison of the two!

Lesson 25 - School Days

For this lesson, I want you to think about what school was like for you as a child.  What activities filled your days?  What subjects did you like best?  Who were your friends?  What did you like to do at recess?  You get the idea!  

**This would be great to do for a child if you prefer!  Document what they love about school or what school is like for them.

Lesson 24 - Dear...

Writing letters is one of the oldest forms of communication.  This lesson is about using a letter as part of your project.  Its a great way to put a new angle on your journaling and can encourage you to capture a story you might not have otherwise.  

Your letter can be to someone real or imaginary.  It can be serious or silly.  The point is to record a memory!

Journaling reads: I have always wanted to know where you got the strength to pick up and carry on after you lost two children and your husband within-all within 10 years.  Then by the time you were 46 you were a window for a second time.  One thing that I have always been very fascinated with is your choice in clothes-even forty years later they have been replicated-they are timeless and classic.  I love them!  Although you are gone, you are still one who captures my attention every time there is something published about you.  Sincerely, Carla

Lesson 23 - I wish...

We all wish and want.  

For little things, for big things.  

For selfish things, for things for others.  

For thing of great value and things of little value.  

Some wishes could change our entire life, while others would be forgotten almost as soon as they are granted.  

Think about the things you wish for  and let that inspire you.  You can create a page about a wish, a page about how you wish your life was like right now, or even just a page about what your wishes SAY about you.

Lesson 22 - Something Cherished

Most of us surround ourselves with objects... from mundane everyday items to those special keepsakes we can't stand to part with.  This week I want to you reflect of the objects around you and document at least one item that holds meaning for you!  

While I did my layout on just one object, I plan to create a mini later dedicated to my most cherished possessions, like my baby blanket, the dress I came home from the hospital in, etc.   Check out the layouts from Mara and me :)  Since I am in the process of expanding the DT I promise more samples for the next lesson!

Journaling reads:

This photo was taken in 1972 at my mom's baby shower. My dad is holding my very first bear. He has fur that's almost real and he used to growl when you moved him. Now bear is too fragile to cuddle with and only grunts if you shake him really hard. I still cherish him and the memories of his better days.

First I want to thank everyone that applied!  I had more submissions than I could possibly use - which I was honored by and stressed by because choosing was hard!  I will be looking to refresh the team in the spring and to possibly do some guest design team spots, so I hope you will all keep checking in!
