Its time for our third Craft Idea of the Month here at Who's That Girl. I am posting the idea a day before the challenge reveal - something new I am trying. Thought it would help space things out better.
This challenge was inspired by the KI Love, Elsie chipboard buttons that I loved so much. Like on the card below. I love that they came in various shapes and colors and patterns, and I love the doodled look of them! I say loved because you can't get them anymore.
So I decided to make my own little paper buttons. I chose paper instead of chipboard for ease, but I might try my hand at chipboard next! Here is what I made:
You'll see the full layout tomorrow :) While its pretty easy to make these, I do have instructions! If you make any, let us know! We would love to see them.
HOW to MAKE Paper Buttons
First, pick out your paper and decide if you want to stamp or doodle your buttons. I got these cute little buttons stamps in my Kenner Road kit. But doodling them is pretty easy too! Just be sure to use ink that is waterproof!
Stamp or doodle your buttons onto paper
Cut them out
Even for the stamped buttons, you can doodle on more details to make it unique :)
Using foam and a paper piercer, poke the holes of your button
Then you want to cover your buttons in a thick epoxy glue or crackle glue. I recommend glossy accents or crackle accent by Ranger. I chose to use the crackle on mine.
Put on a very thick coat (but keep it a bit thinner in the center if you plan to thread the "button" later because you'll have to punch back thru those holes).
The hard part now... let it dry! This can take HOURS. You can also back your button with other paper before you add the crackle or glossy accents. Once dry, re-punch the holes, and use.
